A clean energy milestone for one local business that is setting the bar in solar power.
ACE Glass corporation unveiled its newest fully solar-powered facility in June 2018.
The corporation was recognized as the first in the state to open a fully-functioning manufacturing facility 100 percent generated by solar power.
Courtney Little, president for ACE Glass, says he thrilled to see the success and impact clean energy can have on the environment – and yes… assures everyone that even cloudy days are good days.
“So if you watch our scales through the day – even like a day like today that has a little bit of overcast we’re probably hitting 40 or 50 percent production,” says Little.
The solar energy is used to power everything from the lights in the various offices to the large constructive tools.
Little says more businesses should want to do this because it helps the business overall bottom line.
“Even for those people who are not into that I’d say there still is a very good business reason to look at these measures and do this for your business cause the long-term payout is out of this world,” explains Little.
Solar energy is a good alternative because the power is renewable and cost nothing to supply energy.
We just wanted to do the right thing,” says Little. “I think if more people see the benefits not only on their business but the environment how could they not want to do it.”
ACE Glass has met the LEED-certified standards.
