Three new solar programs will help expand renewable energy across Madison.
It’s part of the MadiSUN backyard solar grant.
The program will award grants to non-profit organizations and affordable housing providers to help install new solar arrays.
“Solar is a win across the board for our community. It’s home grown energy. It provides jobs, and it reduces the effects of climate change,” said Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway.
The City of Madison has $10,000 for grants reserved for the program.
Backyard Solar will fund up to 20% of a winning project’s cost.
The Madison Common Council is exploring additional funding.
